From the Farm...Fall is Around the Corner

We're excited in the Apple Seeds Teaching Farm gardens because fall is just around the corner! Can you feel it?! We've been busy direct sowing the last of our fall crops, mostly leafy greens including head and leaf lettuce, spinach, tatsoi, kale, and arugula. We're already started harvesting the radishes and kale we sowed back in August and our beets are coming along nicely. We put in some super late fall potatoes last week, mostly as an experiment, and we're transplanting new strawberry seedlings next week. Remember that fall is a great time to transition your gardens back to cooler weather vegetables. If you're all tuckered out on gardening by this time of the year then don't forget to sow your fall/winter cover crops mix now!
