What is Growing My Plate? 

Growing My Plate is a 6 session garden based cooking and nutrition education program. The goal of the Growing My Plate program is to get kids excited about cooking at home with fresh fruits and vegetables and to encourage them to incorporate more of these foods into their diets.

Growing My Plate Requirements

  • Lead 6 sessions (1 ½-2 hours) 

    • Each session must include:

      • nutrition lesson 

      • hands on cooking of a garden based recipe

      • a garden connection

  • Cook with your students 6 times

  • Send food home with them to recreate a recipe at least 2 times

  • Students ages 8-18

  • The goal of the Growing My Plate program is to get kids excited about cooking at home with fresh fruits and vegetables grown from a garden and to encourage them to incorporate more of these foods into their diets. Please download the resources before starting the step by step training. Over a week, you can plan on spending 4-5 hours doing the training and planning broadly for your course.
